Tophane Park is host to the remains of, not one, but two very important figures related to the founding of the Ottoman Empire. I have visited the tomb of Orhan Gazi who is the second sultan of the empire. There were several other sarcophagi in the mausoleum but I guess the most important one is Orhan Gazi himself. There is another mausoleum built right next to this one and it is the resting place of Ozman Gazi who is the founder of the Ottoman empire. Yes, he was the one who started it all.

Inside the Mausoleum of Ozman Gazi in Bursa

The mausoleum of Ozman Gazi doesn’t have as many sarcophagi compared to his son, Orhan. Only because of this, I thought that it felt more special because there are less people buried here. You can tell that the largest sarcophagus contains the remains of Ozman Gazi, while the rest are much smaller. I guess it is only right because this is after all the founder of the Ottoman empire. Despite the empire already being succeeded by the Republic of Türkiye. There are still regular services here. You can hear people reciting what I assume to be prayers and I thought that it is nice that they are still being given respect despite the establishment of the modern Turkish republic a hundred years ago.
