I will be taking a ferry from Istanbul to Bursa because taking the bus would have taken too long for me. The ferry departs from the Yenikapi Ferry Terminal which is a short train ride from my hotel. The ferry is fairly large and there were a lot of seats inside. It certainly beats sitting inside a plane. I managed to get a seat by the window so I could at least see out. However, I would find out that there was too much splashing to be able to see anything. This is why you can’t really stand outside while the ferry is in motion. I obviously wouldn’t be good if anyone were to fall overboard.
The ferry takes two hours to get to Bursa so I can only relax while I wait. The ferry actually stops at another port prior to getting to Bursa, just remember that Bursa would be the stop where everybody gets off. The ferry was very comfortable, I thought it would be much noisier but it was actually okay. There are snacks on board if you wish, it wasn’t a full blown store just someone selling stuff. It is a pity that the ferries don’t really go much further than this. I don’t know if the ferry would take longer to get to the southern destinations like Ephesus or Ismir since it takes a while for the ferry to get out to the Aegean Sea, while Bursa is almost directly across Istanbul. Again, this comes back to the inconvenient location of Istanbul when it comes to travel. Sometimes, it is much better to just fly.
