Like the rest of the Dolmabahce Palace, visitors to the National Painting Museum are required to wear plastic socks on top of their shoes to prevent damage to the carpets of the museum. I have already gotten used to this since visitors will need to do this every time they enter a new carpeted building. The National Painting Museum is on the far end of the Dolmabahce Palace grounds and as the name implies, it houses a lot of paintings. The paintings are mostly of people, most probably royalty. There are signs near the paintings describing the painting and the artist, visitors can go through them if they so wish. I didn’t.

I wasn’t too inclined to learn more about these artists but it seems like they learned a lot from the Europeans and the artists patrons love that style. The museum has several similar looking rooms of paintings but what interested me the most is the main hall. I know they don’t want you taking photos here at the museum but I managed to get a shot while that one staff wasn’t looking. I mean, they can’t stop us all, right? The museum isn’t as fancy as the Dolmebahce Palace itself. I would have wanted to have at least one photo of it. Maybe I should have just taken a shot and get told off like the others.
