The Dolmabahce Palace Gardens is a breath of fresh air in the city of Istanbul. Parts of the city can be suffocating and the gardens here at Dolmabahce Palace are a nice place stroll. There is an entrance fee here though I’m not sure if Turkish citizens can get in for free or with a discount. The gardens here are well maintained and have several paths crossing the garden. It was only here that I realized that the Dolmabahce Palace was built along the water. This is not unlike the Topkapi Palace which has an excellent view of the city of Istanbul from one end of the palace.
The water forms a more prominent part of the palace this time around where you have a walkway which goes almost the whole length of the palace. Just remember that not all of this would be accessible and visitors would have to go through the palace itself to get to the other end. At this point, I was going with another family who I share a ticket with because stuff happened. It didn’t seem like I was in their way and everyone was just taking their time to see the sights. The gardens are a nice introduction to the palace and from the looks of it, seem to be much more impressive than the Topkapi Palace.
