Going in the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul

I had a very good meal of grilled fish at Al Madina Fish Restaurant. The servings were quite large and I was actually stuffed for a change. This is good since I have been walking around the city the whole morning and I will be doing this until the end of the day. I only have a few more days left here in Istanbul and I just want to make the most of my visit. Dolmabahce Palace is one of the major tourist spots here in the city and it would be nice to visit it. I know it is another palace so I was wondering if there was a point to visiting yet another palace since I have already visited the Topkapi Palace also in Istanbul.

The Dolmabache Palace is the brainchild of Sultan Abdulmecid I and was built in the year 1856. Like most sultans before him, he also lived in Topkapi Palace. However, the sultan realized that it was already the nineteenth century and the Topkapi Palace as the residence of the head of state is nothing compared to the residences of other leaders in Europe. I would believe him, I have visited the Topkapi Palace a previous day and I thought that the palace while it was nice enough, was rather modest considering that it is the home of the sultan. Sultan Abdulmecid I probably grew tired of the boring Topkapi Palace and ordered a new one made with more modern designs. It seems that this going to be another interesting visit.
