Bus Back to Istanbul

Probably because I don’t have transportation of my own that I decided to be done with my visit to Pamukkale and Hierapolis. Both were amazing places but several factors contributed to my decision to stop. First, I never planned on staying here so I didn’t have any place I could spend the night at. Second, it was hot, like more than forty degrees hot and it wasn’t fun anymore. Sure, I have my umbrella with me to keep at least some of the sun away but you don’t really want to be out in the afternoon. I walked back down Pamukkale barefoot again, for some reason, there is no other way down, so people would have to suffer their way down the hill going up as well as going down.

I got some simple food at the Denizli Bus Station and just relaxed in the cafeteria while I waited for my bus. If you are here at the bus station, you need to know what to look for. I was told to wait for 5, 6, 7. I wasn’t sure I understood that but I kept waiting for anything like that. I thought that it meant to wait for license plate 567 but I never did see one. I knew that I would be taking a Kâmil Koç bus so at least I had something to look for. There were signs on the buses themselves at least I knew where they were going. Eventually, I realized that 567 meant that I should be waiting at bays 5, 6 and 7 and look for the correct bus. There might be announcements here but I wouldn’t have understood them.

I ended up asking the bus captains here who pointed me to the correct bus. The bus was much like the bus I took coming here this morning. I once again got a single seat and just stuck my backpack under the seat. The people here were very relaxed and the bus captain even asked me to take a photo of him with the bus. The bus wasn’t full when it left but we would be stopping by bus stations to pick up people. Once again, it was stressful when I needed to get off the bus to go for a toilet break because I was alone and no one would know where I was if the bus were to leave. Ultimately, I would end up rushing out the bus and rushing back in after I was done with my business. Food was the same, I would have to eat very quickly to make sure that the bus doesn’t leave without me.
