Going to Hierapolis

Ruins at Hierapolis

I think I was finally done with my visit to Pamukkale – a place which is known for its white travertine terraces. It is because of this that it was named to the UNESCO World Heritage site list. A lot of people would be coming here to see the terraces, but some people may now known is that the this place actually has two totally different sites which are UNESCO sites. As mentioned, Pamukkale is one of them but the other one is actually right beside it – Hierapolis. I was aware of the presence of Hierapolis beside Pamukkale. Actually, I thought that the presence of these two sites right next to each other would serve me well, I would be able to visit two sites in one visit.

Looking at the map, I thought that Hierapolis would be much further away from Pamukkale. There are several sites marked on the map and they seem to be a far away from each other. As it turned out, everything was all right next to Pamukkale. The entrance ticket to Pamukkale already includes access to Hierapolis and Pamukkale itself would be the best place to access Hierapolis. I just think that not everyone would be keen to walk up Pamukkale barefoot just to go to Hierapolis. From the top of Pamukkale, it is not hard to miss several ruins that can be found here. There are a few which are right next to Pamukkale and would normally be the first places people see. There would be some further away, so I think I would go there first.
