Climbing Pamukkale

I managed to find my way to the city of Denizli where I would be visiting the UNESCO World Heritage site of Pamukkale. I have known of this place for a while now so I took this chance to make the trip to Pamukkale even if it that meant that I would need to take an eleven hour bus ride to Denizli. I seemed to have arrived early here and there were only a handful of people here. I don’t expect that I would be the first here since I already see some people walking up to the top. I thought that I would start early here since it would get very hot when the sun really comes out. Already it was quite warm considering it is still early morning.

Water Flowing from the Top of Pamukkale

The trip starts at a park with a large pool of water. Pamukkale is famous for its white natural travertine terraces which formed from the flow of spring water infused with limestone. I was actually a bit disappointed that I don’t see any travertine terraces here. It was just a pool of water surrounded by white hill. From the pool of water, I can see people on the hill itself. I saw that there is a path to the right of the pool and you make your way up the hill there. Along the way, there would be streams of water pouring down from the top. It is quite amazing to see how much water is coming out of here. It is through thousands of years of constant flow that formed these structures that we see today.
