Because of circumstances, my out of town visit started out with a very long bus ride out of Istanbul. I was going to visit the city of Denizli which unfortunately is eleven hours away from Istanbul. While the bus was comfortable enough, the ride was just too long. I did take the overnight bus which I saves me time traveling during the day. If I won’t be doing much during the ride then might as well take an overnight bus. There were still toilet breaks but I need to make sure that the bus driver or conductor knows that I will be taking a toilet break. I do not want to be left stranded in a place which doesn’t speak any English. Not that the driver or conductor speaks any English either but at least there would be people who would look out for me. I think.
By the time day broke, it was almost to the city of Denizli. You can see that the area is quite arid and you can even see cacti growing here. I know that this part of the country can be very dry so I was bracing myself for the heat. I was hoping that I would be done with my visit before the heat really picks up but we shall see. The bus leaves me at the bus station as expected but now what? To get to my destination, there is a minibus to take to go there. The basement of the bus station has a waiting area for these minibuses and I was able to find out by asking around. Actually, I just needed to say the name of the destination and they just pointed me to the correct bus. You needed to pay the driver here whenever you can. It wasn’t a long drive at all. At the same time I was keeping an eye on Google Maps to know where I should be going. Ultimately, the driver told me to get off at a certain stop and I started walking.
