I found myself walking along what is one of Istanbul’s shopping streets – Istiklal Avenue. I wasn’t expecting this kind of place here and it was a pleasant surprise for me. I was staying at the old European Istanbul and the place didn’t really give me a good impression. It was safe but isn’t wasn’t very pretty at all. I generalized and thought that all of Istanbul is like that but of course I was wrong. Istiklal Avenue is a nice pedestrianized shopping street in Istanbul and it is lined with various shops. There were a lot of people here too. This street wouldn’t be out of place if it was in another European country.

I had a nice time just window shopping here but ultimately, I needed to grab some food to eat. There were a number of restaurants here but I ended up going to a fast food place. Patsosis is a unremarkable kebab place along Istiklal Avenue. I’m actually surprised that they can afford to set up a shop here since I assume it would be expensive to rent a place here. Thankfully, they have a second floor which has some air-conditioning. It was good enough for me. I got myself a doner kebab. The food was unremarkable either. Considering the price, I guess it was okay. I don’t think it was any different from any other kebab place here.
