I have been going around the Topkapi Palace Museum admiring the exhibits they have here. Before entering the palace museum, I was told that the museum would be closing within an hour. This means that I need to hurry so I can see everything. I think I have gone as far as I can here in the palace museum. At the very end of the museum grounds is a viewing area where you can admire the city of Istanbul and the famous Bosphorus Straits. I got my photos and started to make my way back to the entrance. That’s when I noticed that I didn’t go in one of the buildings.

The building was of course part of the palace complex. It also has exhibits here but I think this has the most important exhibits in the entire museum. There are actually religious artifacts here. If you have been to other museums in Europe, you can see some of them which have religious artifacts. Christian relics were very important in Europe then and probably none would be more known than the supposed relics of the true cross where Jesus Christ was crucified. This was discovered by Emperor Constantine but subsequently distributed across Europe. Like these European monarchs, the sultans were also collectors of relics and the Topkapi Palace Museum has arguably some of the most important ones.

I don’t really know much about the Muslim faith but I do know that a lot of the figures in the Old Testament of Christianity are also honored by Muslims. It is then that I was surprised to see some supposed relics that belonged to figures which I was familiar with. There was a staff here which was supposedly used by the prophet Moses himself. There were also other relics which belonged to other figures such as a the sword of King David, who is considered a prophet by the Muslims. Of course, there are relics which related to the Muslim faith such as footprints of the prophet Mohammad. If these are real, these would incredible finds, not just to Muslims but also Christians as well.
