Whenever I go to a place which is known for its beaches, it is not surprising to me that there will be island hopping offered to tourists. Basically, the idea is that tourists would get on a boat and they will be brought to other islands where visitors can experience what those places have to offer. Some of these tours are very much worth it. I remember going on the island hopping tour in El Nido and I thought it was fantastic. We were brought to different islands to swim or just snorkel. Boracay is no different. If you didn’t know that there was island hopping here in Boracay, then everyone outside your hotel will let you know.
Just stepping outside your hotel will draw touts to you constantly asking you if you want to do any activities, particularly island hopping. It got so bad that I started avoiding them. I know they are just trying to make a living but if it is to the point of annoying your potential customers then it might have the opposite effect. To their credit, they aren’t very persistent as long as you tell them that you already have plans. We booked an island hopping tour through a friend and the person came to fetch us at the hotel that morning. With swim gear and sunscreen in tow, we were on our way.
