I am very excited to be on a trip to the island of Boracay. As you might know, Boracay is known for it powdery white sand beach. It has recently reopened to the public after months of rehabilitation to hopefully make it more sustainable and better managed. For a change, I will be staying at a rather high end accommodation – Henann Palm Beach Resort. This is actually a name I never heard of. I don’t think it was there the last time I was here on the island. However, it seems that they are one of the best places to stay here in Boracay. They have at lest five hotels here on the island and from the looks of it, they seem pretty good.
We were all picked up from Cagban Port which is the main port of entry here in Boracay if you are coming from Caticlan. The hotel provides a comfortable shuttle service from the port to the hotel. Along the way, I can see how the main “highway” in Boracay is very nicely paved now. This makes it great for shuttle services like this to travel on. However, the paved roads didn’t go far enough. From the main highway, the shuttle turned in toward the beach where the hotel is, but the road here was in a very poor state. What’s more, the road is very narrow and only wide enough for one vehicle to use. There are parts of the road which are also swampy and honestly not very nice especially if you need to walk there.
After a very short but bumpy last hundred meters, we did reach the hotel at the end of the road. All our luggage were unloaded. Unfortunately, not all rooms were ready when we checked in, so we needed to wait a bit for that. The hotel provides welcome drinks as well to cool you down from that very warm day. Along the way to our rooms, you can choose to pass through the pool area which was very tempting to jump into. Much as I think that coming to one of the world’s best beaches but only to swim in the pool is a bit strange, I can’t help but think that maybe this one isn’t so bad.
