Waiting Outside the Caticlan Terminal
It has been ages since I have been in the Philippines and it took me some convincing to finally go for it. There were various reasons for the long break but the pandemic certainly played a huge factor. After the pandemic ticket prices also rose so there is that other factor, however I got convinced to go because friends were also going. One of the highlights is that we all go to the well known beach of Boracay.

I don’t even remember when I was last there but I do recall that its fame is well deserved. The powdery sands are the stuff of legends and it is all here. I have heard news about mismanagement of the island and finally about how it was all closed down for renovation. It was just as well since the pandemic closed down most tourism. But everything is back now. The island is open for business again and I have heard good things about it.
Like I said, this isn’t the first time I have been to Boracay but I went through other means. However, this would be my first time going in through what is probably the most convenient way to go here – Caticlan Airport. Caticlan Airport is tiny and it isn’t able to handle large aircraft, for that you might need to go to Kalibo which about an hour away. I like that the airport here isn’t large but I think the amount of air traffic that comes here is huge, as you might imagine from what is the most famous beach in the country.
I didn’t have any checked in luggage so I just walked out of the plane. If you do have luggage, it will be all dumped in the terminal building by the ground crew. Keep in mind that this is a very small terminal, so you will all be in there together with everyone else. Not exactly the best welcome to a world famous beach. However, for all of this, the system works and we managed to get here in one piece.
