I managed to find one of Frankfurst most well known attractions – Römerberg. It is a medieval square surrounded by beautifully restored buildings. Römerberg is also significant because it is also the site of numerous imperial coronations. There are no more coronations here but there is still the huge Christmas market which is set up here every December, some people might consider it a coronation in some way. It is obvious that the Germans love their Christmas markets and I don’t blame them. The place is well set up and it is certainly very festive. It is hard not to get carried away when you see this.
By this time, I was used to seeing what German Christmas markets would have. There would be the usual snacks there like the sausages, pretzels and the potato pancakes. I would probably have some of them very soon but I would like to explore the area first. There are a lot of stalls here and they even spill over to the neighboring square. The markets are also very clean at least this time of the day. Hopefully, there won’t be a huge mess at the end of the day, though I haven’t seen one which is overrun with trash. It seems like the authorities know how to manage the cleanliness of the market well.
