I knew that Frankfurt is a historic city. It has been in existence for more than two thousand years old. It is currently continental Europe’s largest financial center and in a lot of ways has been so for centuries. I decided to explore this historic city and hopefully visit most of its landmarks. Frankfurt isn’t exactly known for a place for sightseeing but I am sure that there will be some interesting places to see here. My first stop would be the old town of Frankfurt. Frankfurt has a large old town but it seems that a lot of these structures are still in use.
The Saint Paul’s Church is one of the well known landmarks of the city. I didn’t even realize that it was a church until I noticed the tower attached to it. The building is unique that the body of the building is elliptical. While the name might suggest that it is a church, it does not function as one anymore. It used to be a Protestant church but the city made a deal with the church and took over the building. It was used as the venue of the Frankfurt Parliament. This was because of the excellent acoustics of the building which made it desirable as a meeting hall. These days it now used as a venue for events. I didn’t go in the building anymore but I just admired it from the outside.
