I haven’t been to too many European countries but the ones that I have been I can see that they use trains a lot. Indeed trains are very convenient, reliable, no need to get there early to catch your ride and there is no airport security where everyone seems to treat you with suspicion. The point is, I love taking the train in Europe. Frankfurt is a major financial center in Germany and also in Europe. No small surprise that the central train station in Frankfurt is supremely connected. Which is why I chose to stay nearby in the first place.
A lot of times that train stations can be destinations onto themselves. Central train stations tend to have very impressive architectures that give you the impression of size and of course reminders that you are still in Europe. Frankfurt’s Central Train Station or Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof is a similar structure which might remind you of a small airport terminal. The hall itself is very large and it is in fact one of the largest, if not largest railway halls in the world with support for twenty four trains all in one level. The facade of the station is impressive but it would be interesting to know that the facade is kept from the original structure built towards the end of the nineteenth century. At night, the facade it lit up like a jewel in the night.
