Much as I wanted to climb up the Loreley Rock, I really didn’t have time for that. I needed to head back to Köln while there is still light. I am not sure when the trains will be coming but I would prefer that I have enough time to wait for as many trains as I can. I had to wait another hour for the next train to Köln but I was just happy to be making my way back to the big city. I was happy with my visit to the Rhine valley as well. It is a welcome change for me since most of the places I have seen were more architectural or cultural in nature. The Rhine valley is obviously one which is more related to nature than architecture. To top it all off, the day was very beautiful, that is, if you don’t count the freezing temperature.
I reached Köln in good time and I realized that I haven’t had any food the whole day. The shops were closed at Sankt Goar and Sankt Goarhausen. This also contributed to my haste in heading back to Köln. I head back to the strip of restaurants near the train station and picked one of them to have dinner in. I didn’t really notice the name of the place was but it turned out to be a very un-German name of Aloha Cocktailbar. They do serve German food here and I had another Christmas specialty which is wild boar. This is not the first time I had this before but I guess I just wanted to have something different for a change. The dish actually wasn’t anything special either. The meat is similar to pork but a bit tougher, which I expected. The restaurant is unremarkable too but people seem to be eating here anyway.
