Whenever I visit parts of the Europe, more often than not, the places would be associated with some cultural landmark like a church or a castle. I thought that it wasn’t very common that I would end up visiting a place which is known for its natural beauty. I also had no idea that area of the Rhine would be more about natural beauty. Sure, the natural beauty of the area was actually important in cultivating the culture which spread throughout the country. This inspired artists, poets all of which came about because of the beauty of the Rhine valley.
I thought I spent a good amount of time here at Sankt Goar and Sankt Goarhausen but I didn’t have time to climb up the Loreley Rock which apparently is one of the most important landmarks here in the area. It was a bit inconvenient to get to at least for me since I didn’t have any transportation of my own and I needed to rely on what is available to me – read – walk. There might have been a shuttle operating but maybe not during winter. I made my way back to the ferry terminal at Sankt Goarhausen and made it back to the other side at Sankt Goar but I missed the scheduled train. I had to wait another hour for the next one in the cold. There still weren’t a lot of establishments open that I might be able to spend some time in apart from the nearby convenience store but it is not a coffee shop where I can hang out while waiting for the train.
