One of the most significant landmarks here in Sankt Goarhausen is the Loreley Rock. The rock is associated with the character Loreley who has been become synonymous with this area. Apart from the Loreley Rock, there is a statue of Loreley herself. The statue is located on a beautiful but inconvenient to access strip of land near the eastern bank of the Rhine at Sankt Goarhausen. The statue is at the far end of what appears to be a barrier to shield boats from waves of passing ships at the Rhine. The barrier is rather long so they thought to build a park on it.
The park itself isn’t anything interesting. I do know that it was a pain to walk through. The surface is uneven so you can’t really walk fast else you might end up with a sprained ankle. It is best take it slow here and appreciate the view of the Rhine. At the far end of this linear park, is the actual statue of the Loreley. It was unremarkable to say the least. The statue was difficult to photograph because the sun was directly behind the statue. At this point, I was already annoyed at having to walk all the way here and I just wanted to head back. I knew that the sun was going down fast and I spent too much time just walking here.
