I crossed the Rhine via ferry from the town of Sankt Goar to visit the mirror image town of Sankt Goarhausen directly across the river. The town of Sankt Goarhausen seems to be just as small as Sankt Goar though I think it is a little brighter here because the mountains weren’t blocking the sun at least from this angle. As a result it seems to be a little livelier here compared to the opposite side which may have to deal with shade for much of the whole winter. Walking along the street I can see that there are shops and restaurants here as well but, like the ones in Sankt Goar, none of them seem to be open. I guess the town really does go into hibernation during the winter.
One of the good things about winter is that there won’t be as many tourists, so I can get to see the town normally. Unfortunately, facilities would be closed too, since there is no point opening shop if no one would come. However, this means that for people who do come, it won’t be as convenient. I can see that I won’t be able to have lunch here since no shops are open. I should probably finish up early so I can head back for an early dinner.
