I thought I have seen most of what Sankt Goar has to offer, so I thought that it was time for me to go across the river to see Sankt Goarhausen which is a town directly across the Sankt Goar. I had to remember that these similarly named towns are two distinct towns. I guess it makes sense to make name them differently because you don’t want to be going to one side only to find out that you should be going to the other town. There is a regular ferry service which connects the two towns together. There is a flat barge which can carry passengers as well as vehicles across the river. I merely waited for the ferry to dock and I just walked on to the ferry and paid my fare.
What is nice here is that the ferry is very much open and you can sightsee to your heart’s content. For the first time I can see the town of Sankt Goar from the river. I can also see the Rhine as it makes its way through the valley. I would be very nice if it weren’t so cold in the first place. I’m still glad that the skies are clear which would at least give me nice photos from the ferry. The ferry crossing was uneventful. The river crossing was very smooth, perhaps that may be due to the large size of ferry. The crossing only takes a few minutes, soon enough we were approaching the opposite side.
