It was very disappointing to see that the Falkenlust hunting lodge in the town of Brühl was not open for visits. In hindsight, I probably should have checked but I might have still gone anyway if only see how it looks from the outside. The hunting lodge was built on a sprawling estate with lush greenery and even a forest which makes its perfect for hunting, but in my case, walks. After taking my photos, there wasn’t much to do here anymore and I started to make my way back. I made sure to come here first before the sun goes down since Falkenlust is much further away from the train station.
Seeing that I have a bit of time before the sun totally goes down, I decided to take the scenic route. It isn’t really a massive detour, just a little walk around the gardens where the hunting lodge is. I can see why this place would be great for afternoon walks. It is very quiet and there are paths here for walkers. On the way out, there was a structure which caught my attention. There is what appears to be a gazebo of some sort. Actually, it turned out to be a chapel. This one is dedicated to Saint Mary of Egypt. The chapel was built at roughly the same time as the hunting lodge. This probably isn’t a surprise anymore since the hunting lodge was built for the archbishop.
