I somehow finished a bit earlier than expected in my visit to the city of Aachen, no thanks to some sites being closed for the season. Because of that, I was able to leave Aachen earlier than I expected and I thought that there would be enough time for me to go to another city after this. Brühl isn’t that far away from Köln as it is just a quick train ride from the city. What is good is that the important site is actually not that far away from the Brühl train station.
Technically, there are two sights worth seeing here, the Augustusburg and the Falkenlust Palaces. The Augustusburg Palace is actually right outside the train station so I thought that I should go visit the Falkenlust Palace first, if the sun were to ever go down while I was still here at least I would be somewhere near the train station was my thinking. Falkenlust wasn’t exactly the easiest to get to. It is about thirty minute walk from the train station. The path goes through some nice greenery and even a small forest. There is a path which goes through the forest and straight to the palace grounds unfortunately, that part of the path was blocked. There was however a detour which would add more time to the walk but it wasn’t that bad. Pretty soon you will see that gates to the Falkenlust Palace. I still have to walk through the very long driveway to the actual palace where there is yet another gate as you can see in the photo.
