I would like to say that I was impressed with my visit to the Aachen City Hall. However, I can’t really say that. From what I have seen, it is just a collection of halls. Yes, they are historical as they were used whenever there is a coronation here. I thought that the most interesting thing that I saw was the replica of the Imperial Regalia. I was actually a bit disappointed with the visit. I thought it looks pretty impressive from the outside with its gothic exterior. It is still gothic inside but there was a lot of empty space. I understand that the main hall is still being used so you can’t really have too much stuff in there in case it needs to be used.
I head downstairs to prepare to leave when I saw that there are still halls which I haven’t visited. To their credit, the halls seemed to be a slightly more interesting than the main hall. There are richly decorated halls here no doubt to impress any visitors that may come here. There didn’t seem to be a consistent design to the rooms though. I understand that some of the rooms are also used for events. Actually, one of the rooms at the time seemed to be used for meetings with long tables and very modern microphones. It is nice to see that such an old structure still being use to the present day.
