I have never considered a gothic building to be anything other than a church or a cathedral. For the longest time, my idea of a gothic building is tall columns and spires outside and they usually belong to a church, but here is the Aachen City Hall which was designed with the gothic style. True enough if you pay attention, you can see all the elements of a gothic building. You might be forgiven if you thought of this as a church. The gothic style continues into the interior of the building. Just going into the building will show you a doorway which is distinctly gothic.
Going further in is the main hall. This is where the coronation feast is held whenever there is a coronation. You can still see the hallmarks of a gothic building here. The hall itself is supported by numerous arches. The style is something I have seen in the basement of some gothic churches. The hall itself wasn’t empty, in fact there was a very modern auditorium here complete with seats. There seems to be visitors at the time and someone was talking to them about the structure. Apart from that, there wasn’t much to see in the hall.
