It was winter when I visited the German city of Köln or Cologne. Some people might not like the idea of sightseeing during winter and I totally understand why. It is cold and the days are short that before you know it, it is already dark. There are somethings you can get from traveling during the colder months and one of them is getting a compressed day. You can get to see morning, afternoon and evening in a much shorter time compared to summer. This is nice if you like taking night shots and cities are nice for taking night shots.
By this time, it was already getting quite dark. In fact, it was only past four in the afternoon. This is good since I wanted to be able to take photos of the city at night and it seems that I was in the perfect spot just beside the Hohenzollern Bridge – the same bridge that the train cross entering the Köln Central Station. Already, the lights of the bridge were already turned. I noticed that the cathedral lights aren’t turned on yet. I don’t know if I was just early or they never turn on. I was also thinking that the cathedral might be trying to conserve electricity considering the high cost of energy these days.
