I can see that the city of Köln or Cologne is a very lively city. The city center is obviously one of the busiest places in the city but there is still quite a lot of activity further away from it. I actually didn’t walk very far from the center since I didn’t want to stray too far away from it. I think I was too tired to walk that far anyway. Add the fact that it is actually below freezing at the moment and I really didn’t feel like walking at all. A lot of the interesting stuff in Köln is outdoors so it is best to get out and brave the cold. At this point in the afternoon, I decided that I needed to start heading back to the city center.
I was merely following the River Rhine which flows through the city. There are several bridge crossings here and I just got on the bridge and started crossing. I was impressed to see how wide the river is. I got to appreciate how it became one of the most important rivers in Germany and also Europe as a whole. What seems to be popular here along the River Rhine is the river cruise. I have no idea what you can see here apart from the city of Köln. I saw that they have ridiculously long river boats where can take in the beauty of the river. From the looks of it, it looks like you can even have dinner on the boat, I think that I would have been an interesting experience. I don’t have plans on taking the boat though. I just thought that it is interesting to see how much importance they put on the river.
