I actually don’t know much about the Köln other than it has a famous cathedral. While I didn’t get a chance to see much of the cathedral because there were celebrations going on, I still have plenty of time to see parts of Köln. I started right behind the cathedral since there seems to be a some trail I can follow to see the important sights of the city. First stop if the Museum Ludwig. This is a museum for modern art that is art that was made after 1900. The museum building sits in huge contrast to the gothic building of the cathedral that I thought it was a poor choice of site to build the museum.
Anyway, the museum was actually along the way for me. I would have to go through the museum to continue and I thought it was perfect since I was freezing from the below zero temperatures of Köln. The inside of the museum was pretty unremarkable. There is a large lobby where a lot of people were. However, I didn’t seem much art around. There were some scattered here and there but nothing really that would tell me that this is a museum. It is only when I saw someone get accosted by security that I found out that tickets are required to see the rest of the museum. I suppose all those people I saw at the lobby were just in it for the heating. I don’t really appreciate modern art so I thought I should just give it a miss. It helped that it wasn’t cold in the museum, so it would let me continue on.
