It was school holiday and my friends decided that we should all go to Portugal for the summer. I haven’t traveled with friends in ages and I think I need a lot of adjusting. I had given up on getting my way here as I was always used to but now I need to get along with everyone and especially what the kids would be interested in. In this series, don’t expect to see a lot of photos apart from perhaps food photos. Anyway, we hired a private transport to get us from the airport to the serviced apartment which we rented. We booked one at Eirasol Apartments which is in the center of Albufeira.
The building looks rather old but that is probably not that important as long as the rooms are good and secure. Checking in took a while since we arrived a bit early in the day and check in isn’t until four in the afternoon. That was a lot of time wasted just waiting for check in and we can’t exactly go around with our luggages. Eventually, we got our rooms and bizarrely, we got one room per floor even if we checked in together, one would have thought that they would put us together since they know that we are all together. I ended up on the ground floor where the door opens up to the outside. I thought it was a strange layout and I worried about how secure this place would be. Fortunately, nothing untoward happened, even if I once left the door unlocked the whole day!
What about the apartments? I think it was more than I needed but they didn’t have anything smaller. It was a full apartment complete with sitting area, kitchen and bathroom. There is even a balcony which overlooks the pool. Portugal has actual summers so it was nice to have air-conditioning in the apartment considering that it was already pretty warm. The air-conditioner is in the sitting room though so you might need to open the bedroom door to let the cool air in. Overall, I was quite happy with Eirasol Apartments. I was dreading what kind of property we would be getting since it wasn’t rated very highly compared to the surrounding apartments or hotels. I even resisted us upgrading to a full hotel since I didn’t think we needed it. After all, we only need it to sleep and keep our stuff.
