The Luxor Hotel and Casino is an interesting structure built along the Las Vegas Strip. It is a pyramid shaped hotel which has the largest atrium in the world. The hotel also has event halls which can feature exhibitions and even concerts. I guess, most hotels in Las Vegas would be like that. I thought it was time for me to move on. I came here using the monorail and decided to continue all the way to the end of the line, which really isn’t that far away but it was hot outside so I didn’t want to walk. Fortunately, there is a monorail stop here at Luxor Hotel.
The monorail stop at Luxor Hotel also happens to be where another landmark here at Luxor is. The Sphinx at Luxor Hotel is visible from the monorail and it is surely a landmark here in Las Vegas. It also happens to be right where visitors would be waiting for the monorail. It was amusing to be seeing the Sphinx looming over everyone while waiting for the train. Unfortunately, the sun was directly behind the Sphinx so it was difficult to take photos of it. The Sphinx was strangely colored though. This is very different from how everyone is used to seeing the original one in Egypt. However, thinking about it, it certainly very likely that the original Sphinx was colored. It was only after thousands or years of being exposed to the elements that the color went away.
