Closer Look at the Sphinx at Luxor Hotel
The Luxor Hotel and Casino is one of the more unique hotels along the Las Vegas Strip. As the name implies, it adopted the Egyptian theme for the resort, so everything is related to ancient Egypt. The hotel itself looks like an Egyptian pyramid encased in glass. And the more I look at it, the more that I think it is a marvel of engineering. The major supporting structures are actually the diagonal lines of the pyramid. I am no engineer but it looks like something that is difficult to design and accomplish. For sure the design was tested to make sure that it won’t collapse. The hotel rooms are also along the walls of the pyramid which leaves the pyramid itself hollow.

The center of the hotel is then free to have an event hall, of which there seems to be several going on at the time. To keep up with the Egyptian theme. There is an obelisk that would be normally associated with ancient Egypt. But don’t forget another key figure of ancient Egypt and that is the sphinx. While the sphinx was built beside the actual ancient pyramids, this sphinx is built inside the glass pyramid of Luxor Hotel. It seems to be well built and it is certainly eye catching.
