I finally arrived in Las Vegas right around noon. Although it was a long drive, I thought that I didn’t feel tired yet. I had a quick lunch a Fremont Street and decided to look around. It was very hot that afternoon and that was enough reason for me to want to just stay in the hotel. I had to remind myself that I am not here that often so I needed to make the most of this visit. I decided to rest a bit in the hotel and hopefully avoid most of the afternoon heat before heading out again.

I remembered that I still needed to do a bit of shopping. My clothes were already falling apart and I usually take the chance to replace my rotting stuff whenever I go on trips. My shoes in particular are in dire need of replacement. It is strange because my shoes tend to last very long but this particular pair wasn’t very sturdy. Maybe the technology used was experimental. I discovered that there was a nearby outlet mall and I thought that it would be a great place to look for stuff.

Along the way, I saw an interesting building. I have no idea what kind of style this is but it looks a like a building that was twisted in strange ways. According to the sign it is the International Market Center when I looked it up it says it is the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Regardless of what is it called, it is one of the most unique structures I have ever seen. I think I won’t be surprised to see skyscrapers twist and turn but I think this is the first time I have seen a low rise building designed this way. The design reminded me of Frank Gehry’s design for the Guggenheim Museum in Spain. It turns out, that it really was designed by Frank Gehry. Looking at the building it is difficult to see how people can work here but I think that is the fun in designing such a building. I guess you can build the inner structure first then put a skin outside and you can make it twist and turn however you want.
