This would be my first time in Las Vegas. Technically, it would be my second time but I only flew in here, picked up the car and left, so I don’t think that counts. I am staying at the Plaza Hotel and Casino for the next few days before I fly out. The hotel seems to be quite old. Although the place doesn’t look like it is falling apart what is most prominent to me is the persistent smell. I am not sure what it is. I thought that it might be cigarette smoke but it wasn’t the same. I thought it might be vape that stuck to the walls but I wasn’t sure either. I was also vaguely similar to wet carpet smell. Looking it up only seems that it is a perfume which is pumped in by the hotel. Apparently, there is sewer nearby and it stinks. I never noticed a sewer smell myself but maybe I was lucky.
I spent more than four hours driving from Page in Arizona to Las Vegas. Although it was a long drive I didn’t really feel that tired. I thought to chill for an hour before heading out since I know it is already hot outside. Just looking outside the hotel window tells me that it is already blazing hot out there. I arrive early enough that I still have time before lunch. I didn’t have any breakfast that morning so I think it was a nice time to sample the restaurant scene here. I didn’t want to go that far just yet but I realized that the Plaza Hotel and Casino was in a convenient part of town. In fact, it was just across the famed Fremont Street. There were numerous hotels along this street and I think it would be nice to walk around here.
I was thinking that I would prefer a heavy dinner later so I should be able to just go with something light. I was walking along Fremont Street and I saw a barbeque place. Project BBQ sounds like it is a place which does good barbeque. I went with some street tacos with brisket. The place is more like a food truck than a restaurant. There are no seats here, only tables. I have been sitting the whole morning and I don’t mind standing but some people might want to sit. The tacos were nice enough. They weren’t huge by any means and I think it helps satisfy my hunger for the time being. I will be looking out for a place to eat tonight, hopefully it would be much better.
