The Glen Canyon Dam Overlook is another way for visitors to admire the Glen Canyon Dam. It helps that the local topography of the town of Page makes it very easy to find such places. The town of Page is built beside the dam and thus the Colorado River. As you well know, the Colorado River cuts deep into the rock to form deep canyons and also viewpoints for visitors. One of these places is the Glen Canyon Dam Overlook. While it is not exactly right at the edge of a cliff, it does give you a clear view of the dam.
The view from the Glen Canyon Dam Overlook is one where you can see the dam straight on. You can see the Glen Canyon Bridge from the overlook and if you have keen eyesight, you might even see vehicles moving on top of the bridge. You can also see the dam wall itself as well as the Colorado River continuing on. I noticed that there was a boat downstream of the dam and I think it was a tourist boat. I don’t know how close they can get to the dam but seeing the dam from up close from the bottom is probably an amazing sight. I understand that there a boat rides which take you from Lees Ferry and up to the Horseshoe Bend and perhaps the Glen Canyon Dam. I don’t know if it is possible to go any further upstream from that since the river is dammed up. Besides, the water level would be too different.
