A Look at Angel’s Window

One of the places to visit at the North Rim is Cape Royal. It seems that it is one of the places to go to for sunsets or sunrises. It is almost an hour away from the North Rim itself but only because the road there is winding. There were a few stops along the way so it wasn’t all boring driving. At the very end of the road is the car park for Cape Royal. I can tell that this is one of the more well known places because the car park here is much bigger than the ones I drove past. It turns out that Cape Royal isn’t the only place you can see here. There is the Angel’s Window.

I don’t know what it is with the Grand Canyon, but the word “angel” seems to keep coming up at various points of interest. There is Bright Angel trail, there is Bright Angel point and now it seems there is Angel’s Window. So what is this Angel’s Window. The Grand Canyon has a lot of these projections that stick out from the canyon wall. A lot of them are quite narrow. Sometimes parts of the wall would collapse even if the top doesn’t. This forms a hole in the wall as well as a natural bridge. Angel’s Window is one such thing. There is a view point at Cape Royal, where you can have a look at this hole. There really isn’t anything remarkable about this, it is just a natural hole which was given a name.
