I was at a nice part of Boston in Copley Square. I saw photos of the Trinity Church here in the square and I knew that I needed to drop by. The place is connected to the subway so it was easy for me to access, even though I walked there. Apparently, this whole area was all water not too long ago. Yes, this whole area used to be a bay known as Back Bay. Eventually, Back Bay was reclaimed as Boston grew in size. In fact, Boston has continuously grown in size. If you look at the map at where Copley Square is, you would find it hard to believe that this area used to be water.
There are a few historical buildings here. Most prominent one is Trinity Church. But there are other buildings here. There is another church here in the square – Old South Church. Much as Boston is very historical, they seem to have a lack of unique names here. Old South Church, Old North Church, South Meeting House, North Meeting House. I don’t know the reason for this. Anyway, Old South Church is another attractive church in Copley Square. As you might imagine, it isn’t that old, having been built only when Back Bay was filled in. The style of the church is Gothic revival. While it isn’t as large as European churches, I thought it was nice enough to visit.
