I was exploring this relatively new development in Boston called the Seaport District. There is a lot of construction here and it seems that this would be a new center of commerce in the coming years. There are also several historical wharves here but it seems at least most of them would be used for recreation purposes. In particular, the one with the World Trade Center Boston is being redeveloped into what appears to be a shopping mall and probably passenger center. There is a cruise ship docked here and it seems to be quite popular. I believe it goes to the outlying islands and there is a line to enter the ship.
Further on is an example of how different life is here in Boston. There is yet another marina here for the people who own boats. I guess one would need to be quite wealthy here to be able to afford a boat. Looking at the water, it seems like it really is nice to be able to go around in your own boat. There are a number of destination off shore, I think it is not be that different from bringing you own car. As you can see, the sea is very much tied to the way of life in Boston after all these centuries. Back then, Boston was a major maritime destination and even was once had the largest fishing fleet in the East Coast. These days, it is no longer that but the waterfront still plays a major role in the lives of the local people.
