Boston Common

I somehow ended up right in the middle of the shopping district in Downtown Boston. There were numerous shops here and it seems to be a great place to just walk around. At this point, I didn’t really have a plan in mind and I was just randomly walking. Unsurprisingly, I didn’t really buy anything. I had a look at shoes but I think it was too early to be getting a new pair since I literally just got off the plane a couple of hours ago. I somehow ended up at a large green area which apparently is the main park of the city of Boston – Boston Common.

The name immediately intrigued me. I never heard of the word “common” used to mean park. I can only assume that this is given to a place which is common to everyone, such as a park. Boston Common is notable because it is also the oldest public park in the United States. There will be a lot of these “oldest in the United States” here in Boston. As I was walking around the city, I was immediately aware of how warm it actually was. I know I haven’t been to warm weather location in years so this is the first time in a long while, but it was really uncomfortable. I think it would take me several days to get used to this again. In the meantime, I was trying to find some shade in the park. Hopefully, it won’t be that bad.
