I would like to think that I stay in a rather remote part of Ireland. Indeed, most of the rest of the country would think so too. Compared to the rest of the country, not too many tourists find their way here but I think people who do are rewarded. I have been to various places in this area and I thought that I have seen most of what is there to see here. I do know of some places which I haven’t been to and it is not because of a lack of trying. One of these places is the Pollet sea arch, which in the Fanad area in county Donegal.
I was aware of this place pre COVID times but that time that I tried visiting the place turned out to be a disappointment. Apparently, this area is private property and while it might have been open sometime back, it wasn’t open anymore when I visited it that time. There was a sign which said that the place is private property and that there is no trespassing allowed, unsurprisingly. I know that it is their property but to block off access to the sea which is public land, is something that is at the very least, questionable. I understand that they could have been reasons why they decided to block off access, like noise, it passes through farmland, the noise would bother the animals. There is also the issue of litter, more people go there, more people may potentially litter. I know vast majority of people won’t litter but there would always be the stubborn folk would still would.
