Institut de France

I thought that I was finally done with Paris. Even if I wanted to go elsewhere, I think it would have already been too late for that. At the time of my visit, it was winter, so the days were short. Although the day has been very good, it was starting to get dark. I rested a bit with some tea and I was on my way again. I just happened to run into another interesting structure. This is the Institut de France. The Institut de France is a large structure which features another large dome. At the time of my visit, it didn’t seem to be open, possibly due to the on-going pandemic.

So what exactly is this place? According to wiki, the Institut de France is a learned society. I never heard of such a thing before, but apparently a learned society is something like a society of academics. It is meant to promote certain disciplines from academics to art. Right now, they manage almost a thousand foundations which do this. Their activities include holding conferences and writing academic papers about their field. Honestly, this sounds like a very important institution, but ultimately, this is something that doesn’t really interest me. It wasn’t open anyway, so I just continued on.
