Sainte-Chapelle is one of the places in Paris which I have always dreamed of visiting. The incredible stained glass windows here make it a must visit for tourists. I was incredibly lucky that the sun was out and it made it perfect for illuminating stained glass windows. At the furthest end of the chapel, the sun was shining through the stained glass windows it is made for a surreal scene. I haven’t seen a church or chapel with such huge windows windows compared to the body of the chuurch. It also helps that this was the second floor of the church which brings visitors closer to the windows.
Almost everything here in the chapel was shining from the windows to the structures inside the chapel. I understand that the Sainte-Chapelle was meant as a showcase of the French king’s power. It was used to house what is said to be the Crown of Thorns which was used on Jesus when He was crucified. I have doubts about this story but they did have a crown of thorns here on display before being moved out to the cathedral and then to the Louvre. There was also a supposed piece of the True Cross. Again, it is difficult to verify the authenticity of this, but believers would not need anything like this for their faith.
