When I was planning my trip to Paris years back, one of the places which I knew I had to visit was the Sainte-Chapelle. It is a chapel in the center of Paris where the old palace used to be. Yes, it was a royal chapel and from the photos, you can clearly see, that it is indeed a royal chapel. Today was a glorious day as the sun was out. I knew that this would be perfect for visiting Sainte-Chapelle with its famous stained glass windows. The chapel and palace is located on an island in the center of Paris. The river Seine conveniently forms an island, and this is where the palace and chapel was built. I was expecting a massive line here and these places are notorious for being difficult to visit only because there were too many people visiting.
However, I think because it was still pandemic time, there were significantly fewer visitors. Yes, there was still a queue but it didn’t really take me a long time to get in. In fact, it was only because people were taking their time purchasing tickets that it took more time than it should. The chapel is large as far as chapels are concerned. From the outside, you can’t tell that there is much special about it. The chapel has two levels. The lower chapel while nice, is okay, but it doesn’t have the wow factor of the upper chapel. Most people just go around the lower chapel and head straight up.
