Thoughts on Sacre Coeur Basilica

The Sacre Coeur Basilica is said to be Paris’ second most visited landmark, only after the Eiffel tower. I don’t know how I managed to not hear of this place until recently, but I was glad that I did. I have a few days in Paris and I decided to visit these places which I didn’t get to visit the first time I was here. I know it is bad, but there is still an ongoing pandemic. Because of this, it depresses international travel. I am not based in a place where I can just take a train to Paris so it takes a lot of effort for me to get here. Still, there are lot less visitors now compared to before, especially visitors coming from East Asia.

This makes the visits much more pleasant than it otherwise would have been. In some places, there would even be queues just to get in. I didn’t experience any of that this trip. For sure, visitor numbers will rebound back to how they were before, especially for a country like France. But for now, I should just enjoy this. I walked down from Sacre Coeur Basilica and it someone didn’t feel as tiring nor as long as the way going up. I might have chosen the wrong stop to get off to start the way up Montemartre. No matter, I look back at Sacre Coeur Basilica and I can see that it is already shining like a jewel up on the hill. I make may way down to the city as I pass by numerous souvenir shops. I almost forgot about them.
