I was glad that I found the Sacre Coeur Basilica. It is one of the most well known landmarks in Paris but somehow escaped me. I saw it in photos and covers of books but I never knew where it was. The basilica is certainly as pretty as it looks. Its unique blend of romanesque and byzantine architecture contrasts against the styles which have traditionally been used by French churches. It helps that the basilica sits on top of the Montemartre where it overlooks Paris. It not that high but it is good enough to get a nice view of Paris.
By this time, the sun has gone down and it was starting to get dark. There is a park outside the basilica where people can hang out. It was still light outside but you can tell that the lights at Sacre Coeur Basilica have already been turned on. The basilica is made of white stone so when it is lit up, this makes the basilica very visible at night. This is the same setup the city of Lyon has. From the street you can see the basilica shining like a jewel in the night. The Sacre Coeur Basilica is no different. There were more people now compared to earlier but it was still not that crowded. It is after all still pandemic times and there are much less international tourists compared to before. I think this is actually a great time to be going on trips.
