I was happy to have found the church that I was looking for. I didn’t know there were actually two churches here and I happened to run into the less known one first. Anyway, the Sacre Coeur Basilica is a beautiful basilica built on Montmartre which overlooks the city of Paris. I have seen this time of setup before in Lyon, which also has a hill within the city as well as a church which is perched on top of it. The hill in Lyon appears to be higher though. That said, you can still have great views of Paris from Montmartre. From here, you can see that Paris is relatively flat. The setting sun only provides more drama to the already nice view.
I don’t know Paris well enough to recognize anything except the Eiffel Tower. This is also the first time I have been to this area of Paris so this makes it even worse for me. From here, I can see that the hill really isn’t that high up. You can still see a lot because Paris is so flat. I think this would be a great place to stay while waiting for the sun to go down. Already, I can see a lot of couples wandering about. Based on the photos that I have seen, I think the should be a park nearby. I will visit that soon after I take a look inside the basilica.
