I was a bit surprised when I got out the metro. I was hoping that it would be an easy walk to the Sacre Coeur Basilica in Paris but it turned out to a a hike up the hill where the basilica is. There were parts of the trail which were steep but nothing too strenuous. I have been walking all over the place here in France and I think have sufficiently built up strength to do this now. I am not the fittest person around but I think I should be able to manage it. There are a few places to stop along the way and no one is really pushing you to keep going. There is lots of space on the way up so it is okay to take your time.
One of these rest areas and probably, the most major one, is the Place de Tertre. The name means a plaza on the small hill. I can see that there is a different feel here. It seems that there are artists who hang out here to create a portrait of you. I am not really into this kind of thing but you can hire them to create your own portrait. I guess it would be nice to hang it on the wall when you get back knowing that it was done by an artist in Paris. There are also cafes around the area and even if there seemed to be quite a lot of people here, it doesn’t feel suffocating and I think it is nice place to just hang out.
