This day has been a long time coming. I originally planned to visit Chartres maybe six years back but we could not fit it within our schedule and it was eventually dropped. I grossly underestimated how much you can see in Paris and we just simply didn’t have time to visit Chartres. This time, I was traveling alone and I have made some time for me to visit Chartres. It is just a train ride away and it wasn’t that busy after all. The moment I got out of the railway station, I knew that Chartres wasn’t going to be busy. In fact, it has a feel of a small town. Not bad considering how near it is to Paris. If I lived here, I think it would be great to stay here and yet still be within commuting distance of Paris.
Not too far from the railway station was a sign proclaiming that I was in Chartres. Already, I can see their famos cathedral in the background. It is not difficult to miss the cathedral since it is big. The cathedral is the biggest draw of the town. I have seen more than a few cathedrals in just this trip alone so I was hoping that it would be just as nice or perhaps even better than the ones that I have seen. Based on my experience, the cathedral is definitely going to be nice. I have yet to see one which isn’t.
