When I travel, I try to visit as many places as I can. So I would normally be moving from place to place. However, in my visit to Strasbourg, I stayed there for three nights. This is quite unusual for me. I saw that there are several interesting sites around Strasbourg that I thought it was worth staying there for a three nights. This is despite my misgivings about the cost of staying there for a single night. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Strasbourg. I know that I only went to the most famous landmarks here and I have barely scratched the surface. However, I have a schedule to keep and I need to head back to Paris after this.
Getting back to Paris is a speedy bullet train away. I quickly dropped my bags at the hotel I was staying at and headed out again. I arrived in Paris quite early and I was pleased that I have a lot of time to spare here. It wasn’t even eleven in the morning and I was already trying to make my way to my next destination. I was planing to visit the nearby city of Fontainebleau. I am aware of this place as this was one of my target destinations the first time I traveled to France. However, because of time constraints, or more likely over-optimism, Fontainebleau was one of the destinations that got scrapped.
To get to Fontainebleau is just a train ride away. Paris, naturally, is supremely connected to almost everywhere in France. However, figuring out how to get to Fontainebleau proved to be a challenge for me. It seems that the regular service to Fontainebleau was not active at the time of my visit, so I needed to find an alternative. There were some people who tried to be helpful, including one who seemed to be a bit out there. I finally managed to find train station staff who told me specifically which train to wait for. I left much later than I hoped but at least I was on my way.
