Timber Framed Buildings at Colmar
The city center of Colmar is definitely a pleasure to explore. The timber framed buildings look very attractive and to think that there is an entire city that looks like this makes you wonder if this is real. Colmar is very real and it seems that large parts of the city have been carefully preserved. I know that it is difficult to tell which are the original structures versus the newer ones but the fact that they make an effort to keep the architecture uniform says a lot of their commitment to maintaining the city’s image.

Colmar isn’t the large city that Strasbourg is, so it is much less stressful to walk around. It somehow still has has that small town feel, no doubt because of the design of the houses here. Now that I think about it, if we can go back in time, it might not be very pleasant to go around here since we won’t have the modern conveniences of telecommunications and transportation. I know you can’t keep the the city in the past forever but I would just imagine how it would be back then.
